Sparking a Revolution
For someone who espouses the virtues of minimalism, Marie Kondo sure takes up a lot of real estate.
She has the #1 and #2 books in the country this
week, with The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
and its sequel, Spark Joy. Together, the pair sold more
than 75K print units this week—laid end to end, all
those books would stretch eight and a half miles.
Life-Changing Magic, which has sold more than 1. 2 million print units since
its October 2014 release, was the fifth highest-selling title of 2015. It got off to a
slower start than its successor, selling just 948 print units its debut week. But
since the second week of January 2015, weekly print units sales have not dipped
below five figures, and this week’s 43K in unit sales represent the book’s second-best week since its release.
A Force to Be Reckoned With
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is #1 at the box
office and on our Hardcover Fiction list; the
novelization, by Alan Dean Foster, sold 17.3K
print units in its first week. It’s the #9 book in
the country. Two notches up, a children’s tie-in, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo, sold 17.8K print units.
